Gosford Council may meet here

Tuesday night council meetings may be held at Peninsula Community Centre in the future after Gosford Council makes a determination tonight (Tuesday) on information supplied by council staff.

Council at its meeting on May 7 resolved that "steps be taken to hold council meetings in other locations in the city".

The Peninsula Community Centre was named in a short list of possible venues which have been investigated by the council staff since the May meeting.

If council were to proceed with its proposal to hold meetings at other locations within the city, it has been recommended the three council meetings for a particular month should be held in the one location.

Council meeting times and locations would be advertised.

It was suggested that members of the public wishing to attend meetings may be confused if council attempted to have meetings at different locations each week.

The report stated that "considerable staff resources" would also be required to ensure that the facilities were properly set up for the council meetings.

There would be additional cost to the council to ensure that the meeting locations were suitably set up for council meetings, including possible hiring charges for the facilities and additional catering costs.
