Popular lolly run planned

A sausage sizzle and lolly run held at Shelly Beach Rd, Empire Bay, at 6pm on Christmas Eve.

More than 1000 bags of lollies will be given out to local children.

The event started 15 years ago with only 50 bags of lollies.

The lollies are collected in tins that are put in local shops and businesses from mid-November.

Shelly Beach Rd becomes Santa's runway with it being blocked off and lights put down each side.

The event is so popular that the lolly run is held in shifts.

The younger children, up to 8 years, are given their lollies from 6pm and the older children after 8.15pm.

Sausages, hot dogs and can drinks will be available on the evening.
