Holiday ferry rides

Peninsula residents looking for something unusual to do this school holidays are reminded of the option of catching a ferry from Ettalong or Patonga to Palm Beach to enjoy a different part of the local waterways.

Palm Beach is on the Barrenjoey Headland and is the northern tip of the Sydney metropolitan area..

It faces the Southern Pacific Ocean on the East and Pittwater on the west and it together with West Head form the southern part of the mouth of the Hawkesbury River

The ferry service from Ettalong departs eight times a day during the week and six times a day on weekends and public holidays.

There are already many people using the service both ways.

Waiting for visitors at Palm Beach is an RSL Club, cafes, Palm Beach itself (or Summer Bay as depicted on the hit TV soap Home and Away), a national park, Barrenjoey Lighthouse, picnic areas, sea planes, restaurants, specialist shops and water taxis.

For anyone wanting to travel further afield, buses service the area linking to Mona Vale, Manly and ultimately Sydney.

Bus times are available on the transport info line 131 500.
