Man appears on stabbing charge

 

A 20-year-old man has appeared in Gosford Local Court charged over a stabbing incident which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

Shortly after midday on Wednesday June 26, police were called to a Warwick Ave home in Blackwall after reports a 47-year-old man had suffered a stab wound to the stomach following an altercation.

The injured man was conveyed to Gosford District Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. He was later flown by helicopter to Royal North Shore Hospital where he was understood to be in a critical and unstable condition.

A 20-year-old Blackwall man was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was interviewed before being charged late last night with malicious wounding causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in Gosford Local Court on Thursday.
