Name suggested for reserve
The residents' committee for the Hillview St Reserve in Woy Woy has asked council to name the reserve the Burrawang Bushland Reserve.
Committee convenor Mr Mark Snell said a study of the reserve had stated that the palm-like burrawang was the plant that characterised the uniqueness of the reserve.
The committee also asked the council to assist in removing car bodies from the reserve and to institute a plan of management for the reserve, based on the study.
Recommendations of the study included the formation of a "Friends" group and the naming of the reserve to reflect its conservation value.
Mr Snell said a bush care group had been formed and was working at the reserve on the fourth Sunday of the month at 9am. The committee meets at the offices of Peninsula News at 4pm on the same day.
The group will meet at the reserve next Sunday, May 26.
