Fined for littering
Gosford Council conducted a series of street patrols in Woy Woy during April with rangers issuing fines for littering from vehicles.
Wyong and Gosford Councils have launched the joint campaign targeting littering from vehicles, as well as the disposal of cigarette butts.
Council staff have reported a significant decrease in the amount of litter particularly in hot spots such as sporting venues, public car parks and council reserves.
Both councils are also distributing free Butt Bottles, portable ashtrays made from recycled film canisters, to aid smokers in reducing the number of cigarette butts dropped on our footpaths and beaches.
Council's joint education and enforcement approach to the campaign has been particularly successful in raising awareness about the littering problem in the Central Coast.
