Aged Care holds annual meeting
Woy Woy Community Aged Care association held its annual meeting on Tuesday, October 8.
The meeting was attended by more than 40 company members and community representatives including Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews.
All board members were re-elected for another term: chairman Albert Quilkey, vice-chairman Dennis McDonnell, treasurer John Carney and committee members George Arnott, Charles Brock, Ruth Collins, Alistair Knibb and Peter Swain.
Returning officer Elmo Caust praised the work of the board and management.
Mr Quilkey outlined the proposed extension to Woy Woy Community Aged Care Nursing Home.
Four bed wards will be replaced by single rooms with ensuites and two-bed rooms with improved facilities.
General manager Ms Jennifer Eddy thanked staff for their commitment to caring for residents.
"The high quality of care and the accolades from the community can only be achieved by a team effort," she said.
Ms Eddy also thanked all the volunteers for their support in fundraising and assistance with resident activities.
She spoke of the changing direction of aged care and the need for services to respond to the expectations of the community in the provision of care and accommodation.
Woy Woy Community Aged Care is located at 6 Kathleen St, Woy Woy, behind Woy Woy Hospital.
It was a non-profit community-based organisation providing professional quality care and accommodation to the aged, respecting individuals rights, needs and dignity, she said.
"Interested members of the community are welcome to join the company membership."
