Cricketers compete for northern NSW

 

Peninsula cricketers Ben Smith of Woy Woy Bay and Blake Cansdale of Umina have just competed with the Central Coast side in the Northern NSW under-17 cricket carnival in Gunnedah.

Ben Smith, who plays first grade for Umina, is a left-handed batsman and wicket keeper.

Ben scored the most runs for the Central Coast side.

His best performance was 49 not out.

Blake Cansdale also plays with Umina and is an opening bowler.

Blake took the most wickets at the carnival with 11.

His best performance was against Central North with figures 7/41 off 12 overs.

The carnival consisted of four regions covering northern NSW.

The Central Coast side won the championship.

A Northern NSW side has been chosen to meet Southern NSW to play at Bradman Oval, Bowral, on November 16.

Ben and Blake were both selected.

During this competition, a NSW country side will be picked to play the NSW City Team.

Over the following two days, a NSW side will be selected from this game to compete in the under-17 Australian Championships in Perth in January.
