Child care position is split

Gosford Council has split a job-share position at Umina Child Care Centre into two part-time positions.

The centre is licensed for 50 children a day.

This increased from 40 children a day from January last year.

The new places have been taken up and there is currently a lengthy waiting list.

Recent attendance patterns have shown that parents want their children to attend the centre for longer hours each day.

The centre previously had a job share position, which was limited to a total of 38 hours per week.

The council has decided to change the job share position into two part-time positions: one of 24 hours a week and one of 16 hours a week, providing an extra 30 minutes a day.

The increased cost incurred by the creation of the new positions will be covered within the centre budget.
