Obituary: Stephanie Howell

Stephanie Howell of Umina died at the age of 38 on October 6.

She was born at Caringbah on October 25, 1963, at Sutherland Shire Hospital.

Her parents were Kathleen Mary Jurd and Mathew Richard Jurd.

Stephenie started school at Our Lady of Fatima at Carringbah.

When she turned seven in 1970, she along with her two older sisters and two brothers, Susan, Margaret, Michael and David, moved to Umina, where Stephanie went to primary school at St John the Baptist, then high school at Umina High School.

On leaving the school in 1979, Stephanie went to work in Sydney at Colonial Mutual Insurance.

Stephanie met Tim Howell in 1983 at Woy Woy Bowling Club disco.

They were married at St John the Baptist Church at Woy Woy on March 31, 1990.

They travelled Australia, settled north of Perth for five years where on January 30, 1994, Stephanie gave birth to their first daughter Alison Rachel.

They moved back to Umina in 1995.

Stephanie resumed work at MLC Insurance, North Sydney, where she received numerous awards for quality work.

On April 14, 1997, Stephanie gave birth to their second daughter Amy Kate.

Both girls go to school at Umina Primary.

Stephanie devoted her time to her daughters and husband, spending three to four days a week down at the school helping in class with the children.

Stephanie passed away before her 39th birthday.

"Stephanie Howell was a beautiful person, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished daughter and daughter in law," said her husband, Tim.

"She was an adored sister and sister in law, a great friend to many.

"The nicest girl you would ever meet, always happy and smiling."

She entered hospital with severe pneumonia, contracted acute respiratory disorder syndrome which resulted in two weeks in intensive care in Gosford Hospital, before passing away at 6am on October 6.
