Submissions wanted by Rotary

Rotary International is seeking submissions from the Peninsula community for a commemorative project aimed at benefiting the wider community.

The project is in celebration of Rotary International's centenary in 2005.

Some of the suggestions have been for rescue services, further provisions of family accommodation for hospitals, educational and social facilities and disadvantaged children's facilities.

Peninsula Rotary clubs from Umina Beach and Woy Woy are among 14 clubs within the Central Coast area supporting the project.

President Mike Curley from Umina Beach Rotary said the main focus of the project was educational and medical.

"Our major objective is to support youth on the Peninsula and the wider Peninsula community.

"There may be a project on the Peninsula that we are unaware of that could benefit the entire coast," Mr Curley said.

Mr Curley's comments reflect the sentiments of Graham Black the coordinator for the Central Coast Rotary Centenary Project.

"Rotary is keen to have submissions from within the Peninsula, due to the last major project being in the Gosford area.

Here is an opportunity for the Peninsula community to make submissions for worthwhile projects," Mr Black said.

The last major project for the Rotary's 75 anniversary saw the establishment of Rotary Lodge, a hotel-style facility which accommodates the families of critically-ill patients at Gosford Hospital.

Peninsula community groups and residents are encouraged to forward written submissions to Mr Black at 50 Chamberlain Rd, Wyoming NSW 2250 or phone 4320 9555 by November 19.
