Costing requested on estuary plan
Gosford Council's Coastal Lagoon and Planning (CLP) Committee has called for a report to be prepared of the cost of an "Upper Estuary Management Plan", after it was told current funding did not cover Correa Bay.
The committee was told that money was not available for Correa Bay despite a letter from the Department of Land and Water Conservation (DLWC) suggesting it could.
The letter stating: "The department is assisting Gosford Council to prepare an Estuary Management Plan for Brisbane Water through both technical advice and a grant of $65,000 from the Estuary Management program.
"The priorities for works within Brisbane Water, including Correa Bay, should be considered by council's CLP Committee".
However, DLWC's representative on the committee, Mr Neil Kelleher, confirmed that the paragraph referred to the Lower Estuary Management Plan, which involved the area between The Rip Bridge and Half Tide Rocks and did not include Correa Bay.
The committee asked for "a whole and section costing of stages for possible funding" for an upper estuary plan.
It also recommended "DLWC carry out an environmental assessment of the erosion and sedimentation controls at the Bulls Hill Quarry Site to ensure they are functioning correctly.
