Three play in monster tournament

 

Three members of the Woy Woy Judo Club competed in the Monster League Judo Tournament for players under the age of 10 on Sunday, September 29.

Brandon Grosse, Joshua Rowe and Kieren Handley travelled to Castle Hill Showground for the final in a series of tournaments.

Brandon Grosse 7, Kieren Handley 8 and Joshua Rowe 9 all fought in their individual weight categories against players from seven other clubs from throughout NSW.

All three had tough competition but their achievements were rewarding.

Brandon obtained a silver, Kieren after six fights obtained gold and Joshua in his last under-10 tournament before going into the next age group of under 13 also achieved gold.

Coach Danny Simmons said he was very proud of the boys as they had shown they were able to put the techniques they had learnt into practice.

"All three boys never miss a training session at the Peninsula Community Centre, where the Club operates," he said.
