Plans prepared for Ocean Beach Rd

Gosford Council will prepare a route development plan for Ocean Beach Rd.

The plan will include the provision of traffic management and pedestrian facilities.

The council's traffic management committee recommended the plan after considering a request for a pedestrian refuge between Gwendolen and Donald Aves.

The committee was told there were eight pedestrian refuges and four pedestrian crossings on Ocean Beach Rd within a distance of 3.6 kilometres.

"This represents an average spacing of between pedestrian facilities of 300 metres," the committee minutes recorded.

Pedestrian surveys had been carried out at the requested location which indicate the warrant for a pedestrian crossing is not met.

"However, there appears to be a pedestrian desire line between the bus stops on Ocean Beach Rd," the minutes noted.
