Basic skills results

 

Local public schools received the results of the State-wide basic skills tests and writing assessment program last month.

"I am pleased to say once again that our Years 3 and 5 students are performing very well," Woy Woy Public School principal Mr Warrick Hannon said,

"From a general basis, our Year 3 students performed above the NSW State mean in all literacy, numeracy and writing.

"Our Year 5's results showed them to be on and very marginally below the state mean.

"The tests have indicated some areas which require our attention for 2004 and our teaching staff will be making a concerted effort to address all needs."

"Overall, we are very proud of the standards these students have achieved," he said.

Umina Public School principal Mr John Blair said that a full report of the schools results was presented at the recent Parents and Citizens meeting.

"I am happy to report that the results for Umina School have been very pleasing and I congratulate all of our teachers, and the students who were tested, for their efforts."
