Fertility advice offered

The Gosford Family Life Centre in Umina is offering advice to couples wanting to achieve or avoid pregnancy using a "drug-free natural method".

Visiting GP Dr Veronica O'Connell is giving regular public lectures in the Billings Ovulation Method, which uses observations in the changes in a woman's mucus to achieve or avoid pregnancy.

Christine French and Marianne Bowyer from the Family Life Centre can also give their clients education in the Billings method and teach them to understand their own reproductive cycle.

Christine and Marianne are the only accredited Billing teachers on the Central Coast.

Marianne has been teaching for four years, while Christine has been teaching for 12 years.

They said that they see couples seeking a drug free natural method to help them understand their fertility and conception.

"Education is also given to couples wishing to space their children," Marianne said

"It is a not-for-profit service, asking clients a modest fee for ongoing education and support."

"Generally it takes most couples approximately three cycles to be quite clear and confident in applying this method to their needs," she said.
