No dismissal procedure |
It is clear that the Howard Government has known all along about the AWB kick-backs to the Sadam regime, the so-called enemy.
It deserves to be dismissed.
But the numbers to support a motion of no confidence, on account of the two-party system and the current Coalition majority, are insufficient unless Coalition members cross the floor thereby possibly ending their own careers.
One can see now that Australia's Westminster system has no effective dismissal procedure.
This is a serious constitutional defect as the nation may have to put up with an untrustworthy Government until the next election.
