Grants save water at school |
Grants from the Federal Government and Gosford Council are helping students at Brisbane Water Secondary College save water on the Central Coast, according to relieving principal Mr David Beattie.
Mr Beattie said that the boys' toilets had been converted to waterless urinals, and dual flush systems had been installed on all toilets.
Mr Beattie said both campuses were in the process of having water tanks installed to collect run-off which would be used for watering gardens and the school's agriculture farm.
"The work of the P&C and environment committees has been successful in receiving the grants," Mr Beattie said.
"Senior campus teacher Linda Langmaid was also instrumental in putting the improvements into place.
"The college is now able to monitor water use via the internet, identify any water leaks and make a sound contribution to educating students about our water shortage problems."
