The Peninsula Marching Association was established with a single team in 1986.
In the last three years, numbers have increased to three representative teams, all of whom enjoyed outstanding success at the recent National titles.
Held at Wollongong over the Easter weekend, the Peninsula fielded teams in three divisions - U/13, U/17 and Senior level.
The U/13's collected two bronze medals, the under-17's a silver and a bronze and the Seniors won gold in the Exhibition March, Silver in Freestyle and were placed third overall in the championship.
A key to the groups' success is diligent training.
With competitive marching rapidly evolving, the regimented drills are being replaced with more dance-like routines in the freestyle sections, drawing from influences such as the highly popular Irish dancing.
The Peninsula girls can be seen every week at Woy Woy High School perfecting their techniques for the competitive season which runs from August to Easter.
Despite their success the Peninsula group are still in need of sponsorship for items such as tracksuits and hoping Peninsula businesses will lend their support.
They are also keen to hear from more junior marchers to boost their ranks and any local schools or groups seeking performers for fetes or outdoor events.
