Shopfront is restored

The façade of the shop housing Simplicity Funerals and Broadwater Appliances has been restored along "heritage" lines.
Ms Naomi Wilkie who owns number 8 and Mr Allan Maidment, manager of Simplicity Funerals, which leases number 10 were behind the idea.
But they say, it has only been possible with the help of Ms Lyn Morris of the Gosford Council Heritage Committee, Con and Teresa Maniakas who own number 10 and Claude Scarella, owner of Broadwater Appliances.
The property is one of the oldest commercial shops on the Peninsula, built by Thomas Noonan in 1914.
Noonan was born in Limerick, Ireland, in 1843. He migrated to Australia and began working as a gardener for Catholic priests for a shilling a week.
A thrifty man, he saved his money and bought many properties. He was 71 when he built this building.
In the early days, it was leased out as a bakery and fruit shop.
